Have we kept those New Years Resolution?

Well, I have done it. I completed my certification for Zumba and now have not one, but two certifications. I have one in Zumba , and Zumba Gold (for the older adult). I also learned how to lead a class for those confined to a wheel chair. It was a long day- 11 hours, and a large class, but it was one of the most exhilerating experiences of my life. There were young people, old people, thin people, larger people- all there for the same reason- to help spread the message of health and happiness. Being skinny does not mean you are healthy- and that is what I want to bring to the forefront of society. Most people wish to be skinny ( including myself), but does anyone ever state that they wish to be healthy? No. We, as a society automatically assume that if you are skinny, you are healthy- and that is not the case. I am not a size 2, and perhaps I will never be a size 2. However, I take solice in knowing that my body is fit, and healthy. I have gained more than just the physical benefits (including a drop in blood pressure even though I was already in the healthy level). I have gained the ability to love myself, to not question my abilities, and to really believe that the sky is the limit. I learned that everyday is a gift, and I choose to make it a good or bad day -one day at a time.
From the begining I choose not to take a beginning picture and to have an end picture. That is something I associate with dieting. I am not dieting- I am taking control back into my life to be as healthy as I want to be. Included below you will see two pictures- the elapsed time is just 17 months- less than a year and a half. I hardly recognize myself. Let this be inspiration to all of you who are traveling the road to a healthier you- it may be a series of small steps that get you there- but the finish line is always in sight!
